2022 has been a busy year for Yu-Gi-Oh! between major developments both in the physical card game and the video games. The card game has seen several powerful and game-changing new strategies introduced throughout the year, along with classic cards like “Change of Heart” and “Yata-Garasu” being unbanned after more than a decade. The release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel came as a massive success for Konami, breaking records on Steam and amassing tens of millions of downloads. Now, Konami is paying tribute to the game’s beginnings for its 25th anniversary.

Konami announced the upcoming “Legendary Collection: 25th Anniversary Edition” earlier this week, revealing the product is set to release in April of next year. The Legendary Collection will include one pack each of Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Spell Ruler, Pharoah’s Servant, and Invasion of Chaos along with several promo cards. The compilation set will include Ultra Rare copies of the three Egyptian God cards and other iconic monsters from the original series, along with one special “Quarter Century Secret Rare” card.
Players looking to pick up the Legendary Collection will be able to get their hands on some of Yu-Gi-Oh’s most iconic and powerful cards with many still seeing play today. Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon includes powerful Spell cards like Raigeki and Dark Hole, while others feature legendary Traps like Mirror Force and Magic Cylinder. Konami is also set to reprint each of the booster packs outside the collection, retailing for $4.49 like other Yu-Gi-Oh! packs. The collection notably does not include Yu-Gi-Oh’s fifth chronological pack, Labyrinth of Nightmare.
Yu-Gi-Oh’s newest legacy reprints come as players have more ways than ever to play the TCG between physical play and a plethora of games. Master Duel continues to see new cards added to the game each month with the game recently introducing the ability to craft banned cards. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links also continues to offer fans an alternative way to experience the game, more focused on the franchise’s many anime series and featuring a curated card pool. Yu-Gi-Oh’s Legendary Collection will be a welcome return to some of the franchise’s most beloved sets.
