According to Joosten, Hideo Kojima talked to her about playing the character Fragile in Death Stranding when the game was still early in development, even sending over concept art of what the character would look like. Unfortunately, communication between Joosten and Kojima Productions then broke down, with no word from the studio for a long time. Joosten then had her management contact Kojima Productions, at which point it was clarified that the role of Fragile was given to someone else....

An article by Video Games Chronicle reveals that Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi has left Kojima Productions after having been with the studio since its creation. Imaizumi was the developer’s corporate director and looked over all production of Death Stranding. The reviews of Death Stranding weren’t all positive and the game was review bombed by some players on the day it was released, but it is unlikely that’s why Imaizumi left.
